Hyatt Paris Madeleine

Paris, France

Madeleine is a great luxury hotel option in Paris if you’re looking for a boutique feel. Within walking distance of Park Hyatt Paris and Hotel du Louvre, its located in an excellent area for touring the City of Light.

HYATT LOYALTY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Globalists receive complimentary breakfast at the hotel restaurant, Cafe M

  • In-room gift of fruit, chocolate, and honey soda received for special occasion

  • Suite Upgrade Awards (SUAs) are not accepted

HOTEL BRAND OVERVIEW

  • Madeleine is part of the “Hyatt” brand, of which there are only 17 globally. So, if you’re looking to check that off of your Hyatt Brand Explorer list (in which you you earn one free night for every 5 new Hyatt brands you stay at), this is a great opportunity.

BOOKING

  • This is a Hyatt category 7 (out of 8), meaning a stay here requires 30,000 Hyatt points per night at the standard rate. Cash rates are most often about $600 per night. Not the best points redemption, but it would put you about in-line with what the average Hyatt points are worth.

  • I booked Madeleine before it was upgraded from a category 6 to 7 and decided to redeem Hyatt points. Our stay in Paris was broken into three different hotels because, as you might find, points availability can be tough to find in this city if you don’t book many months in advance. As a result, we only stayed at Madeleine for one night before moving to Park Hyatt.

LOCATION

  • The hotel is in the Madeleine neighborhood and sits on Boulevard Malesherbes, where you can easily walk out of the door and come upon a variety of restaurants and shops. Like in most parts of Paris, the subway is nearby. We also opted to take Ubers around the city.

  • Sights like Place de la Concorde and the opera house Palais Garnier are an easy 15 minute walk away.

CHECK IN

  • Upon arriving to Madeleine by taxi from the airport, we were swiftly greeted and our luggage taken care of. The exterior has an elegant, classic white Parisian look.

  • Our room was not ready when we arrived (1 hour prior to check-in time) and the front desk offered us champagne as we waited. They also have complimentary, delicious madeleines (the cookie). The lobby is lovely and, similar to Park Hyatt Paris, has a wonderful signature scent. As we waited, we mostly saw adult guests staying there, rather than families.

  • Once our room was ready, the front desk notified us and we were escorted to our room, where our luggage was delivered shortly after.

The hotel lobby is lovely and had a chic crowd enjoying afternoon drinks when we arrived

While we waited for our room to be ready, we enjoyed complimentary champagne and nursed our jetlag coming from NYC

ROOM

  • We booked a standard room on points (1 Queen Bed) and were upgraded to a 1 King Deluxe with a View, room 612. This upgrade meant a slightly larger sized room and a boulevard view (as opposed to interior courtyard view). I wish we could have lucked out on a suite upgrade, as they have premium suites with an Eiffel Tower view!

  • Upon entering the room, we found a nice surprise of a welcome gift to celebrate our honeymoon. They left us a nice note, along with fruit, chocolate, and this delicious honey soda.

  • There was a roll-away bed set up in our room, which we hadn’t requested. I called the front desk and they promptly had someone come up to remove it. But good to know that’s an option they offer, in case you’re traveling as a family.

  • My favorite part about our room was the Juliette balcony and view of the boulevard. You truly feel immersed in Paris with this view, looking out over the bustling street and old rooftops.

  • The bathroom was on the narrow side. This won’t be an issue for solo travelers, but it’s a squeeze for two people. Despite only having one sink, there is both a bathtub and separate shower.

A lovely spread of goodies awaited us in the room - always a nice touch!

AMENITIES

  • Complimentary breakfast is offered to Hyatt Globalists at Cafe M, the restaurant in the lobby. They have a buffet and a la carte menu. Unfortunately, we missed breakfast during our stay because it was over by the time we woke up following jet lag.

  • There is a gym onsite. Despite it being small, it does have a sauna and steam room.

SERVICE

  • The staff at Madeleine were friendly and responsive. Our interaction was primarily with the front desk and porter during our short stay, the latter which proactively helped us with our bags upon check in and out.

NEARBY ACTIVITIES

  • There’s an unlimited number of activities you can do in Paris, from shopping at the luxury designer stores to exploring the history of France.

  • We visited the historic Palais Garnier, a 15 minute walk away, to watch an opera during our stay. Also close by is the perfume museum (Musee du Parfum), which is a great stop if you enjoy scents.

SUMMARY

  • During our visit to Paris, we stayed at Madeleine, Park Hyatt, and Hotel du Louvre. Among the three, if you plan to use cash for your stay instead of points, I would recommend checking out Madeleine. If using points, I typically opt for Park Hyatt Paris, or Hotel du Louvre if there is no availability. I would absolutely return to Madeleine again for a stay, especially for a romantic getaway.
