HOTEL BRAND OVERVIEW
Park Hyatt is Hyatt’s most luxurious option within its core brands. While they cost the most from a points and cash perspective, the Globalist status recognition at these properties tends to be most consistent and of highest value (e.g., amazing complimentary breakfasts, superior rooms).
BOOKING
This is a Hyatt category 8 (out of 8), meaning a stay here requires 40,000 Hyatt points per night at the standard rate. Cash rates are easily over $1,000 per night, so points are an excellent option here.
I opted to book a standard room with points, then applied a suite upgrade award (SUA).
LOCATION
The hotel is wonderfully situated for tourists and those looking to stay in a chic area. It’s a 7 minute walk to Palais Garnier (opera house), 15 minute walk to the Louvre Museum and Place de la Concorde. Other top hotels such as Ritz Paris are also in this area.
Hopping on the Paris metro is simple, as the hotel is close to multiple stops. Taking rideshare or taxis is also easy in Paris; we typically opted for Uber.
CHECK IN
Immediately upon arriving at the hotel we were greeted at the door, our bags swiftly taken, and we were escorted to the front desk for check-in. We arrived just around check-in time, but they needed a few more minutes to finalize our room, so we were invited to enjoy complimentary drinks as we waited. The receptionist escorted us to the bar area and coordinated with the waiter to ensure that we were taken care of—this practice of doing warm hand-offs was consistent throughout our stay. I’ve stayed at other properties where this hand-off doesn’t occur and I end up getting charged for what was supposed to be complimentary, so I greatly appreciated it here.
As we were in the lobby, the scent—Blaise Mautin—stood out to us as lovely. It fit in with the elegant decor.
After about 15 minutes of waiting, the same receptionist came over to us and escorted us to our room. She recognized that were celebrating my wife’s birthday, which was a nice touch. Once we entered our room, we were happy to find a nice bottle of champagne, a note, and dessert waiting for us.
ROOM
One of my favorite features of the Park Deluxe Suite is the spacious bathroom. Our luggage had been delivered to our room before we arrived and was sitting on the raised surfaces in the bathroom—I loved that feature, as often times there is not space in a hotel room to lay out four suitcases on the floor, let alone a raised surface. I’ve stayed in the standard room size before as well, and the bathroom also has these surfaces, but only two instead of four.
The bathroom had both a shower and a separate bath. There were two sinks and two bars for hanging clothing.
On the door, you can indicate electronically “do not disturb” or request to have the room serviced, which they promptly respond to.
Our view was of the courtyard, but there are premium rooms available with balconies and beautiful views of the avenue.
AMENITIES
There are multiple excellent dining options at the hotel. For the complimentary breakfast offered to Hyatt Globalists, we opted to take advantage of the in-room dining option each morning, which delivered a beautiful spread. We also had dinner at Pur, their Michelin-star restaurant. When we inquired about a reservation, they made space for us and noted that my wife was vegetarian, which the kitchen was fully prepared for when we arrived.
During the winter, they have a Winter Chatlet. It’s a beautifully decorated festive space where you can enjoy raclette and drinks.
The hotel has a spa (Le Spa) and fitness center that we did not explore. A 60 minute massage at Le Spa is 180 euro (as of March 2024). The gym is open 24/7 for hotel guests.
SERVICE
The exceptional service at this hotel is what defined the experience for me. From the moment we arrived, the attentiveness of the staff and their willingness to go above and beyond was impressive. As one example, my wife and I asked a staff member in the lobby for salt and pepper, which they told us they would send up to our room. No more than 30 seconds after we made it to our room did the salt and pepper appear.
NEARBY ACTIVITIES
There’s an unlimited number of activities you can do in Paris, from shopping at the luxury designer stores to exploring the history of France.
If you’re looking for a place to grab drinks nearby, I recommend checking out Bar Hemingway, located a 5 minute walk away at Ritz Paris. Note that you may wait in line, as they don’t take reservations.
Whether you love opera or want to try something new, seeing a show at Palais Garnier is a special experience. The venue is less than a 10 minute walk away from Park Hyatt.
SUMMARY
Park Hyatt Paris is my go-to hotel in Paris. Although it’s expensive in terms of points, it’s well worth the spend in my opinion, especially if you’re celebrating a special occasion. Given the high cash rates, your points will take you far here.
